Fox News Forgets Private Property Rights?

June 21, 2010 - 7:57 pm 25 Comments

Despite all the warnings about looming socialism and even communism coming from Fox News these days, the concept of private property rights seemed wholly absent when Fox News’ Megyn Kelly reported on a controversy in Gaffney, South Carolina, that resulted from a Bank of America branch’s temporary removal of American flags placed on its property by Brenda Earls to memorialize the death in Afghanistan of US Marine Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes, as I show in this video.

The 3 short FAIR USE clips I use from Megyn Kelly’s interview of Brenda Earls come from the Fox News program “America’s Newsroom” broadcast September 22, 2009, that you can find, in full, online at http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playerId=videolandingpage&streamingFormat=FLASH&referralObject=9904603

My May 2008 video in which I appear on camera to fight for the freedom to plant flags on PUBLIC property to honor soldiers and civilians killed in Iraq to which I refer in this video is available under the title “ACLU Memorial Day Free Speech Win!” on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5sTVkwySzw

And, finally, as always, you can find DOZENS and DOZENS more examples of Fox News bias on my Fox News bias playlist on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A3BD2524FE99BD4D

  2. Dethkill14 Says:

    @PaulieMac77 It’s …
    @PaulieMac77 It’s the thought that matters. She violated the rights of the property owner by putting the flags in the properties grass. They’re not giving both sides. They’re purposely wording it in a way that it looks like a big deal, when, in reality, it was probably not even a big deal. They could’ve taken them out to mow the lawn and Fox News still wouldn’ve made a big deal about it.

    @rhfyr91 Good point. I generally don’t have any problems with the ACLU. I’m not a conservative. I’m just an anti-authoritarian. The initiation of force is the initiation of force. No matter who starts the use of it. You want to display the 10 commandants on your property? Then do so. Just don’t expect me to be forced into paying for it through taxation so you can have it on public property.

  10. yammyspeed13 Says:

    @ewen666 The right …
    @ewen666 The right to life is the source of all rights—and the right to property is their only implementation. Without property rights, no other rights are possible. Since man has to sustain his life by his own effort, the man who has no right to the product of his effort has no means to sustain his life. The man who produces while others dispose of his product, is a slave.

    @ewen666 Your …
    @ewen666 Your ether for or against the initiation of the use of force to takeaway the fruits of a man’s labor. There is no such thing as kind of stealing. If you wish to live in a free nation then no person may initiate the use of force upon another. God, the Devil or the Tooth Fairy has nothing to do with it.

    @yammyspeed13 of …
    @yammyspeed13 of course i am. that is the nature of the human race. but whats ridicoulous is the notion that becuase liberals disagree with hardline unbridled capitalism they have no notion of private property. (love it that you capitalized it, like people capitalize God)

    What I’ve noticed is that Fox News and America are very similar to one another- they believe in Democracy and “American values” when it benefits them.

  17. AllOtherNamesTaken2 Says:

    CNN is a POS, and …
    CNN is a POS, and it is the best of the mainstream TV news networks. Fox is the worst, like a smelly, partially digested and wet POS. I do not concern myself over them any more than I would finding a dog on the side of the road. YouTube is a better source of info than all of them, and Youtube is a terrible source of info.

  18. greling Says:

    Private property …
    Private property rights?

    That’s why we have the Second Amendment to protect them.

  20. dex1391 Says:

    Whoa… When did …
    Whoa… When did they say that the bank didn’t have the right to pull the flags? That wasn’t ever said. What was asked was WHY they pulled the flags.

  21. FaganRoberts Says:

    Where is the …
    Where is the liberal outrage on violation of property rights with regard to whether or not an owner of a bar or restaurant can allow it’s paying customers the right to smoke in their establishment based upon voluntary admittance to that establishment? Can you imagine the uproar if the government mandated that a bar or restaurant owner must allow smoking in certain areas in places of business where the owner has personally banned smoking? Just an afterthought.

    Megan Kelly is a joke. She really think she’s there to report to the people, when in reality, she’s there for eyecandy, hired by the drooling men at FOX News. Look at her, oh so serious! That conservative mouth of hers should be put to better use.

    Public and Private Property; It’s all U.S.A – what’s the harm of posting a flag. Yes they should get permission, but what’s the harm of putting up a flag temporarily.

    Do you do any videos of the biased of NBC, CNN, etc. or just hate on FOX
